French Luxury Conglomerate LVMH Converts Perfume Factories into Hand Sanitizer Plants to Combat Coronavirus

The French luxury conglomerate, LVMH, is taking proactive steps to combat the coronavirus outbreak by utilizing its production facilities in the country. In an effort to address potential shortages, Bernard Arnault, the CEO of LVMH, has called upon the Perfumes and Cosmetics division of the company to manufacture and provide hand sanitizers to public authorities.

Starting from tomorrow, the Christian Dior, Guerlain, and Givenchy Perfume Houses, which are located in Saint-Jean de Braye, Chartres, and Beauvais respectively, will actively participate in the production of these sanitizers. The hand sanitizers will then be distributed to French health authorities free of charge, with a priority given to the Assistance Publique – Hôpitaux de Paris (AP-HP), which comprises 39 medical institutions. This generous offer from LVMH was officially confirmed on Sunday, March 15, following its proposal on Saturday. Martin Hirsch, the General Director of AP-HP, relayed this information to Agence France Presse.

LVMH intends to sustain this exceptional measure for as long as it is necessary, in close consultation with the health authorities. This demonstrates the commitment of the luxury group to contribute to the fight against the coronavirus epidemic and support the healthcare system in France.
