Bruno Pavlovsky to Become Next President of FHCM

The Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode (FHCM), the governing body for French high fashion, is anticipated to name Bruno Pavlovsky, a Chanel senior executive, as its next president during the upcoming general assembly on July 1st. With no other known contenders vying for the position, Pavlovsky is set to succeed Ralph Toledano, who will retire after serving three terms as president.

In accordance with the Federation’s regulations, the executive committee will propose a candidate to the full management committee, which comprises 18 members representing renowned brands such as Christian Dior, Chanel, Givenchy, Hermès, Isabel Marant, Agnès B, Leonard Paris, and Maison Margiela. Pavlovsky’s election is viewed as a continuation of the policies implemented by Toledano and the Federation’s executive president, Pascal Morand.

Under Toledano’s guidance since 2014, a group of notable executives, including Pavlovsky, Guillaume de Seynes from Hermès, Francesca Bellettini from Saint Laurent, and Sidney Toledano from LVMH, have collectively steered the Federation. Their collective efforts have focused on solidifying Paris as the global fashion capital, supporting emerging talent, and establishing a renowned fashion design and management school at IFM. Recently, Sidney Toledano was elected as the new chairman of the board of IFM.

Moreover, the Federation has successfully digitized Paris Fashion Week, forging a partnership with Launchmetrics and amassing a substantial Instagram following of over 700K from a previously non-existent presence. Pavlovsky, known for his proactive approach, has been a vocal advocate for the French fashion ecosystem. Notably, he spearheaded the initiative known as 19M, a vast center located in north Paris and owned by Chanel, which serves as a collaborative space for various skilled fashion arts and crafts with a focus on ensuring their continuity. The facility is accessible to all couture and high-end ready-to-wear brands in Paris.

Overall, Pavlovsky’s appointment as the president of FHCM is expected to uphold the Federation’s mission and further the interests of the French fashion industry. Leveraging his active involvement and strategic vision, Pavlovsky aims to sustain the consistent growth and advancement of Paris as the foremost global fashion hub.
