Zimmermann Resort 2024 Collection

Zimmermann has returned with their highly anticipated resort 2024 collection, which celebrates the joy and excitement of dating your dancehall sweetheart. The Australian fashion brand has once again impressed with a collection that radiates optimism and charm.

The inspiration behind this collection stemmed from Nicky Zimmermann’s observation of people dancing freely on the streets of Europe, particularly in Madrid and Paris. She was captivated by the sense of liberation and happiness that these impromptu dance parties brought to the cities. This inspired her to explore the world of dancehalls, capturing the energy and excitement of people having a great time in the 1950s.

The result is a collection filled with garments that exude movement and fun. Each piece is designed to make you want to twirl and dance, from the flowing curvy poplin cocktails adorned with delicate floral appliqués to the multi-ruffled dresses. Design elements like hidden petticoats and bouffant crinolines add a three-dimensional touch to the garments, enhancing their dynamic nature.

The lookbook for this collection was shot in a magnificent Philadelphia estate, inside a crumbling old house that is soon to be renovated. The setting perfectly complements the clothes, showcasing an asymmetrical flamenco frock with lace doilies and guipure lace fringe. Zimmermann’s Irish heritage influenced the incorporation of doilies into the frills of the crinolines, infusing the collection with nostalgia and whimsy.

Prints also play a significant role in this collection, with a delightful Jazz era print featured on chiffon dresses and abstract animal patterns on dresses and charming falling leaf pencil skirts. Most looks are styled with flats, adding a relaxed and carefree vibe to the collection.

For eveningwear, Zimmermann introduces a touch of masculine tailoring, with rolled shoulders showcased in a sassy black blazer mini cocktail dress paired with ankle socks and silver heels. There is also a pink lady dandy tuxedo suit that exudes playful elegance. Nicky Zimmermann herself expresses her desire to don this pink tuxedo suit, reminiscing about her mother who used to create her own outfits before heading to the dancehall.

Despite the challenges faced during the pandemic, Zimmermann has made impressive strides, expanding their presence with new stores in Hawaii and China, as well as establishing a strong foothold in Barcelona, Madrid, and Puerto Banus. Furthermore, they have plans to open a second store in Paris on rue St Honoré by the end of the year.

Looking ahead, Zimmermann aims to build a talented design team in Paris, merging the essence of Australia and Paris to create truly unique garments. Nicky Zimmermann intends to spend more time in Paris, recognizing the city’s significance in their growth strategy.

Despite the obstacles presented by the pandemic, Zimmermann successfully debuted in Paris last fall with a show held in the garden of Petit Palais. The brand seized the opportunity to adapt and evolve, bringing their team and machinists to Paris. The Paris show was a milestone that resonated with both American and international audiences.

This resort 2024 collection exemplifies Zimmermann’s ability to create stylish and vibrant clothing. It showcases their commitment to delivering garments that exude optimism and color while pushing the boundaries of design. With their continued growth and expansion, Zimmermann firmly establishes itself as one of Australia’s most influential fashion brands.
