Yeezy Names Nur Abbas as Head of Design

Yeezy, the fashion brand formerly associated with Kanye West, has named Nur Abbas as its new head of design. In this newly established position, Abbas will have the responsibility of overseeing the direction and launch of various special projects, which includes collaborations with major brands such as adidas, Gap, Stemwear, and general merchandise. Reporting directly to Kanye West himself, Abbas is expected to bring his extensive experience to the role.

Abbas comes to Yeezy with a rich background in the fashion industry. He most recently served as the design director for Nike ACG starting in November 2020. Prior to that, he held senior roles as a menswear designer at esteemed fashion houses such as Louis Vuitton for a decade, as well as Gucci for two years. Additionally, he served as the head menswear designer at Uniqlo for one year, further adding to his diverse skill set.

Expressing his excitement about joining forces with Kanye West, Abbas emphasized his passion for design and his commitment to pushing cultural boundaries. He also praised the talented teams he has encountered at both Yeezy and Gap, expressing his eagerness to collaborate with them in order to bring the brand’s new creative vision to life.

This announcement comes shortly after the highly anticipated partnership between Yeezy Gap and luxury fashion brand Balenciaga. Revealed last month, the collaboration is part of a 10-year agreement that was struck between Kanye West and Gap in June 2020, with the aim of launching the Yeezy Gap line.

With Abbas assuming the role of head of design, Yeezy is well-positioned to continue its trajectory of innovation and expansion within the fashion industry. As the brand continues to forge partnerships and release captivating collections, it is sure to further solidify its influence on contemporary culture.
