Woodkid for Nicolas Ghesquière – Louis Vuitton Works One

French singer Woodkid is making a highly-anticipated comeback with his latest album collaboration with fashion designer Nicolas Ghesquière for luxury brand Louis Vuitton. The album, titled “Woodkid for Nicolas Ghesquière – Louis Vuitton Works One,” showcases a collection of tracks that have been featured on the runways of Louis Vuitton fashion shows. Sporting a simple green color block cover, the album captures the essence of the collaboration between Woodkid and Ghesquière.

The partnership between Woodkid and Ghesquière began in the Fall-Winter 2017 season, with the singer creating mesmerizing soundtracks that complemented Ghesquière’s Women’s Collections for Louis Vuitton. The album boasts six tracks, each displaying a unique blend of musical genius and artistic creativity. Ranging from one to nearly ten minutes in duration, the tracks take listeners on a remarkable journey.

One standout track, “On Then and Now,” features renowned American actress Jennifer Connelly, who happens to be one of Ghesquière’s muses. In this captivating piece, Connelly recites excerpts from “Grace: A Memoir,” the biography of esteemed fashion editor Grace Coddington. Coddington collaborated with Louis Vuitton on the Catogram collection, further enhancing the connection between the album and the fashion house. The track, which is the album’s longest, was notably played during the opening of Louis Vuitton’s Cruise 2019 show in the breathtaking gardens of the Fondation Maeght in Saint Paul de Vence.

More than just a musical endeavor, the release of this album emphasizes the growing significance of soundtracks in fashion shows. Fashion houses are recognizing the ephemeral nature of their presentations and are incorporating carefully curated soundscapes to elevate the overall experience. Brands like Chanel and Prada have also turned to music, with Chanel offering playlists curated by sound illustrator Michel Gaubert and Prada unveiling a playlist inspired by its Prada 365 campaign.

“Woodkid for Nicolas Ghesquière – Louis Vuitton Works One” is easily accessible for fans, as it is available on popular music platforms such as iTunes, Spotify, and Deezer. The album allows music enthusiasts and fashion aficionados alike to delve into the creative collaboration between Woodkid and Ghesquière while owning a piece of the Louis Vuitton experience.
