Willy Chavarria Captivates Audiences with ‘Safe From Harm’ Collection

Willy Chavarria, a rising star in the fashion industry, captivated audiences with his latest collection titled “Safe From Harm” during a unique fashion show along the banks of the East River in Brooklyn. This unexpected choice of location added an intriguing twist to the event, further showcasing Chavarria’s innovative approach to fashion.

Chavarria’s collection was a fusion of sophisticated tailoring, Latin exuberance, dynamic designs, and inclusivity. The fashion show featured a diverse cast, who also starred in a gripping film that opened the show. Projected on a screen above a table adorned with votive candles, the film portrayed Chavarria as a modern-day saint wearing a bleeding heart T-shirt.

Adding to the immersive experience, Chavarria left a plastic card on each seat featuring an image of the Virgin Mary, accompanied by a heartfelt message promoting unity among different tribes. The message emphasized the notion that we are all part of one family, coexisting under the same roof, and highlighted the significance of forging connections between individuals.

The film exhibited elements of gang culture, drawing inspiration from the popular Netflix TV series “Griselda,” which follows a female Colombian cartel leader in Miami. Filled with raw emotion and vulnerability, the film featured intimate moments between gang members, weightlifting sessions, and the characters screaming at mirrors and walls. This storyline added an edgy and thought-provoking aspect to Chavarria’s collection.

As the live cast, representing Central and South America, walked the runway, they wore an array of fashionable pieces that showcased Chavarria’s artistic vision. The collection boasted bold suits with wide pagoda shoulders, pointed lapels, leather hustler jackets, western blazers, and three-pocket Saharienne leather looks paired with cowboy hats. In addition, Chavarria introduced giant multi-pleat pants, a trend already embraced by young teenagers in New York. His women’s collection featured leather-biker-jacket-meets-cocktail looks and bat wing blazers, receiving high praise from attendees.

Following the show’s conclusion, Chavarria took the stage to express his gratitude towards the enthusiastic crowd. He emphasized the power of art in creating meaningful change and expressed his appreciation for everyone who had become part of this uplifting experience. Standing on a chair with his hands crossed over his heart, Chavarria’s heartfelt speech demonstrated his passion for his craft and his commitment to making a difference.

Chavarria’s ascent to prominence in the fashion industry holds immense significance as he represents the interests of BIPOC (Black, indigenous, and other people of color). After years of apprenticeship with renowned brands like Ralph Lauren and Calvin Klein, Chavarria has emerged as a design leader in New York. The confidence he exuded was palpable as he confidently walked the runway as the final model and joined his cast at the candle-laden table, evoking imagery reminiscent of the Last Supper. This moment symbolizes his success and the impact he has made in the fashion world, solidifying his position as a force to be reckoned with.
