Wes Gordon Receives 2021 Couture Council Award for Artistry of Fashion

Wes Gordon, the talented creative director of fashion brand Carolina Herrera, has been selected as the recipient of the esteemed 2021 Couture Council Award for Artistry of Fashion. This prestigious award will be presented to Gordon at the annual New York City luncheon hosted by The Museum at FIT on September 22nd. The event will take place at the elegant venue Cipriani South Street and will be attended by esteemed individuals such as co-chairs Jeffrey Fowler and Émilie Rubinfeld, as well as Nordstrom.

This recognition is particularly significant as it coincides with Carolina Herrera’s 40th anniversary and the long-awaited return of New York Fashion Week in September. Wes Gordon, who initially joined the brand as a consultant in 2017 before being personally selected by Carolina Herrera to step into the role of creative director, has received praise for his remarkable ability to breathe new life into the brand with his vibrant designs and youthful spirit.

Expressing his gratitude for being chosen as the recipient of this year’s Couture Council Award, Gordon emphasized the importance of this honor in conjunction with New York Fashion Week and Carolina Herrera’s milestone anniversary celebrations. He believes that the upcoming fall season will be remembered as an incredibly special moment in the fashion industry.

Dr. Joyce F. Brown, the President of FIT, applauded Wes Gordon’s accomplishments in the fashion industry, highlighting his role as an exceptional role model for aspiring designers, including students at the institute. Dr. Brown also expressed her excitement about celebrating Gordon’s achievements and being a part of the revival of New York City’s fashion scene at the Couture Council luncheon.

In addition to Wes Gordon’s well-deserved recognition, fashion enthusiasts can look forward to the reopening of The Museum at FIT on August 6. The museum will welcome visitors with the highly anticipated exhibition titled ‘Ravishing: The Rose in Fashion,’ further adding to the exhilaration surrounding the industry’s resurgence in the heart of New York City.
