Watches of Switzerland Implements Appointment-Only System for Exclusive Shopping Experience

Watches of Switzerland, a renowned luxury watch specialist, is implementing a unique and innovative approach as it reopens its English stores post-lockdown. The company, which also operates Mappin & Webb and Goldsmiths showrooms, is requiring clients to book appointments in advance for a personalized and exclusive shopping experience. Clients can schedule appointments either by reaching out to their nearest showroom or by filling out an online enquiry form. While walk-in appointments will still be accommodated each day, the appointment-only system is aimed at effectively managing in-store traffic and ensuring the safety and satisfaction of both staff and clients.

Despite the fact that Watches of Switzerland may not be faced with the same challenges of social distancing and hygiene concerns as other retailers, especially those selling lower-priced fashion items, the decision to opt for appointment-only visits aligns perfectly with the exclusive and high-end nature of the luxury watches it offers. As the company prepares to reopen showrooms across Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, and UK airports, it has already successfully reopened all Mayors showrooms in the US and Watches of Switzerland showrooms in Las Vegas. Watches of Switzerland is continuously adapting and evolving its strategies in response to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

CEO Brian Duffy has openly acknowledged the challenges brought on by the lockdown but has also highlighted the opportunities for growth that have emerged. Despite these challenges, the company managed to achieve an impressive 82.8% year-on-year increase in e-commerce sales in April. For the first time, clients have the convenience of browsing and purchasing pieces from esteemed brand partners such as Vacheron Constantin and Jaeger-LeCoultre through the company’s online platform. Furthermore, Watches of Switzerland has effectively utilized digital tools like Zoom to maintain strong relationships with VIP clients, virtually showcase products, and coordinate direct deliveries of watches.

As Watches of Switzerland navigates its reopening process and works towards strengthening its global network, it remains committed to driving the business forward and emerging even stronger. By seamlessly blending the physical showroom experience with digital platforms, the company is poised to meet the ever-evolving needs of luxury watch consumers.
