Vogue Australia Announces Christine Centenera as New Editor-in-Chief

Vogue Australia has made a significant announcement, revealing that esteemed stylist and current fashion director, Christine Centenera, is set to become the magazine’s new editor-in-chief. She will be taking over from Edwina McCann, who will be transitioning into the roles of editorial director and publisher at News Corp Australia. Centenera’s debut issue as editor-in-chief is scheduled to hit the stands in March 2023.

McCann expressed her utmost confidence in Centenera, stating that they have collaborated for over a decade, making Centenera the natural choice to succeed her in this role. McCann also mentioned her excitement about her new focus on the expanding Prestige publishing business at News Corp Australia, which includes renowned Conde Nast titles GQ Australia and Vogue Living.

Centenera has been an integral part of the Vogue brand since 2012 and has gained recognition as a highly sought-after celebrity stylist. Her clientele includes prominent figures such as Kim Kardashian, Cate Blanchett, Gisele Bündchen, and Naomi Campbell, among many others. Beyond her styling work, Centenera runs her own fashion label called Wardrobe.NYC.

Stepping into her new position, Centenera expressed her enthusiasm for injecting fresh creativity into Vogue Australia. Her goal is to champion and nurture extraordinary fashion and design in both Australia and the international fashion scene. Additionally, she aims to celebrate captivating individuals, their accomplishments, and their innovative ideas with a blend of compassion, intelligence, and humor. Centenera also emphasized the significance of exploring gender dynamics and promoting diversity and originality.

Notably, Centenera made headlines for styling Kanye West’s controversial ‘White Lives Matter’ show in Paris, which took place on October 3. With her extensive industry experience and expertise, Centenera is poised to bring a distinctive perspective and creative vision to the pages of Vogue Australia.
