Vetements Unveils Fall-Winter 2020 Collection in Celebrity Runway Show

Vetements, the renowned high-end ready-to-wear street brand that has been creating a buzz in the fashion industry, is entering a fresh chapter post the departure of Demna Gvasalia. The brand, famous for its disruptive and iconic designs, recently put on a celebrity runway show to unveil its Fall-Winter 2020 collection.

The star-studded event turned out to be a brilliant surprise as attendees soon realized that the celebrities in attendance were actually cleverly disguised lookalikes, adding an element of mystery and allure to the show. In a bid to heighten the underground vibe of the brand, the show took place in total darkness, with guests handed mini torches in lieu of traditional invites.

The audience congregated in a dimly lit garage in Paris’ 11th arrondissement, where the word “Vetements” flickered faintly on the wall. As the show commenced, guests were prompted to use the light from their phones to observe the runway, resulting in a one-of-a-kind and immersive experience.

The Fall-Winter 2020 collection showcased over 80 ensembles, offering a fresh take on some of Vetements’ most emblematic pieces including the integration of pumps into tights, vintage floral dresses, thigh-high boots, and hoodies. Despite the display of more refined and wearable pieces, the collection retained the brand’s iconic edge and creativity.

A notable highlight from the collection was the introduction of thigh-high boots for men, along with leather handbags that bore a striking resemblance to brown paper bags. Quirky accessories like jeans adorned with a “censored” stamp over the fly added a playful and rebellious element to the lineup.

In essence, Vetements’ Fall-Winter 2020 collection unveiled a new trajectory for the brand, while remaining steadfast in its unconventional and avant-garde ethos. By focusing on intricate details and distinctive accessories, Vetements continues to challenge fashion norms and push the boundaries within the industry.
