Versace Appoints Cedric Wilmotte as Interim CEO

Following the announcement of CEO Jonathan Akeroyd’s departure, luxury fashion brand Versace has swiftly appointed Cedric Wilmotte as its interim CEO. The decision was necessary in response to Akeroyd’s plan to join Burberry in April next year. Wilmotte will take on the role starting from January 17, 2022, until the end of the year. This timeframe allows Versace ample time to find a suitable permanent successor for Akeroyd.

Interestingly, Versace did not have to venture far to find its interim CEO. Cedric Wilmotte has been serving as the president of Michael Kors’ EMEA region since 2008, which happens to be one of Capri’s flagship brands. Prior to this, Wilmotte gained valuable experience in the fashion industry, working with renowned brands such as Donna Karan and Marc Jacobs.

In his new position, Wilmotte will closely collaborate with Versace’s chief creative officer, Donatella Versace, as well as the leadership team. Together, they will be focused on executing the brand’s well-defined strategic initiatives.

This appointment underscores Capri’s dedication to ensuring a seamless transition and upholding the brand’s vision during this critical period. Versace’s recent runway show for the Spring/Summer 2022 collection held in Milan was a testament to the brand’s creativity and renowned designs, and Wilmotte’s leadership will play a crucial role in sustaining this legacy.
