Valentino’s Co-Ed Pre-Fall 2019 Showcase in Tokyo

Valentino has recently caused a stir in the fashion industry with its groundbreaking showcase of the first co-ed Pre-Fall 2019 collection in Tokyo. The event took place at the Warehouse Terrada in Tennozu Isle, Tokyo, coinciding with the launch of a special Valentino concept store within the prestigious Ginza Six space.

The runway show featured a marriage of menswear and womenswear, drawing inspiration from Japan and the philosophy of “Wabi Sabi”. The collection stood out for its fusion of couture detailing with athletic prints and logos, creating a truly unique aesthetic. The showstopper moment came when supermodel Kaia Gerber closed the show in a breathtaking ruffled dress embellished with crimson petals. The presence of special guests, such as the popular K-Pop band Perfume, added to the event’s excitement and glamour.

In addition to the collection debut, Valentino also unveiled an immersive concept installation at its flagship store in Ginza Six. Under the creative direction of Pierpaolo Piccioli, the store has been transformed into a mesmerizing space known as “ValentinoTKY”, conceived in collaboration with Sarah Andelman. This installation, running until December 9, offers visitors a multi-sensory experience incorporating art, music, and a capsule collection curated by Piccioli.

The central theme of the installation revolves around five adorable characters inspired by animal motifs from Valentino’s heritage collection, including a tiger, dragon, snake, panther, and butterfly. Various renowned brands have reimagined Valentino’s iconic imagery, infusing their own artistic interpretations to pay homage to the brand’s legacy while pushing boundaries towards future innovation.

The concept store also features exciting collaborations, such as a street culture-inspired collection of t-shirts and hoodies with tattoo motifs by Doublet, as well as a line of pouches inspired by Renaissance art by Undercover. These partnerships add an extra layer of creativity and diversity to Valentino’s offerings, showcasing the brand’s willingness to explore new territories and engage with emerging trends in the fashion landscape.

Valentino’s Pre-Fall 2019 showcase and the immersive concept store exemplify the brand’s dedication to creativity and visionary design, positioning it as a trailblazer in the global fashion scene. By merging traditional Japanese influences with contemporary design elements, Valentino continues to push boundaries, captivate audiences, and redefine the language of luxury fashion.
