Valentino Appoints Key Executives for Asian Market Expansion

Valentino, the luxury fashion brand owned by Qatar-based Mayhoola, is making significant changes to its operations in Asia. The company recently announced three strategic appointments in the region. Mitchell Bacha has been appointed as the manager of Valentino’s China business, Masumi Shinohara will head its Japanese and South Korean businesses, and Alessandra Andreani has been named CEO for South East Asia and Australia.

Alessandra Andreani, who took up her new role on October 18, brings a wealth of experience in the luxury sector in Asia. With the exception of seven years in Spain overseeing operations for the Prada group, Andreani has spent the majority of her career working in the region. She has previously held positions at renowned brands such as LVMH-owned Loewe, Marc Jacobs, Prada, Mauboussin, and Furla in various Asian markets. Andreani will be based in Singapore and will report to Valentino’s chief commercial officer, Marco Giacometti.

As CEO for South East Asia and Australia, Andreani’s primary responsibility will be to strengthen Valentino’s presence in the South East Asia market, with particular focus on Singapore, Malaysia, Australia, and Thailand. Her first major challenge in this role will be overseeing the opening of a new flagship store in Sydney, scheduled for the first half of 2022.

This appointment highlights Valentino’s commitment to expand and improve its operations in Asia. The brand’s presence in the region, led by Andreani, currently includes two boutiques in Australia, concessions in the Australian department store chain David Jones, two stores in Singapore, one in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and another in Bangkok, Thailand. Andreani takes over the role previously held by Mika Bailey, who served as general manager for South East Asia and Australia.

Valentino’s strategic appointments in the Asian market serve as a testament to the brand’s recognition of the region’s potential. By entrusting experienced and knowledgeable executives like Mitchell Bacha, Masumi Shinohara, and Alessandra Andreani with key regional roles, Valentino aims to leverage the opportunities presented by the growing luxury market in Asia. With a strong presence in South East Asia and Australia, the brand is well-positioned to capture a significant market share and continue its success in this dynamic region.
