Valentino Appoints Giovanni Morelli as Design Director of Accessories Team

Valentino has made a strategic move by appointing Giovanni Morelli as the design director of its accessories team. With over 25 years of experience in the industry, Morelli brings a wealth of knowledge in both footwear and fashion accessories, having previously worked with prestigious fashion houses such as Loewe, Chloé, Burberry, Marc Jacobs, Céline, and Prada.

Prior to joining Valentino, Morelli held the position of creative director at Stuart Weitzman, a renowned US footwear label. His appointment signifies the brand’s commitment to elevating its accessories offerings, which play a significant role in generating revenue for Valentino.

This decision comes at a pivotal moment for the Italian luxury label, following recent changes within the design team and the departure of key personnel. Despite these challenges, Valentino remains steadfast in its focus on upcoming events and collections, including the highly anticipated men’s and women’s mixed show in Tokyo on November 27.

The Tokyo showcase will not only unveil the pre-autumn 2019 collection but will also introduce a transformed Valentino concept store at the Ginza Six shopping mall. This innovative concept store will feature collaborations with artists, a project led by Creative Director Pierpaolo Piccioli and former Colette creative director, Sarah Andelman.

Overall, Giovanni Morelli’s appointment signals a new chapter for Valentino’s accessories design team, promising exciting and creative developments in the luxury fashion industry.
