Valentino Announces Menswear Collection Show in Milan

Italian luxury fashion house Valentino has announced that it will be holding its menswear collection show in Milan. This decision comes as the brand concludes its three-year stint of co-ed shows, which were implemented during the Covid pandemic from September 2020 to March 2023. The upcoming menswear show, titled ‘The Narratives’, will mark the beginning of Milan Fashion Week on June 16.

The show is scheduled to take place at 2pm in the prestigious Università degli Studi di Milano Statale. Valentino is placing great emphasis on the vibrant atmosphere of the university and has extended an invitation to students to attend the event. The aim is to provide these students with a comprehensive experience of the brand’s commitment to excellence, craftsmanship, attention to detail, and spirit of innovation. By fostering a creative exchange, Valentino hopes to inspire and engage with the next generation of fashion enthusiasts.

Valentino, which is owned by the Qatari investment fund Mayhoola, has always had strong ties to Milan. The brand chose to showcase its collections in Milan during the pandemic in September 2020 and returned to the fashion capital in February 2021 for a show held behind closed doors at the Piccolo Teatro. Milan was also the location for Valentino Garavani’s very first men’s fashion show back in January 1985, a tradition that continued until 2012. With the guidance of creative director Pierpaolo Piccioli, the brand seeks to build upon its Milanese heritage and push the boundaries of men’s fashion in a more contemporary direction.

In an effort to elevate the menswear segment and underscore its significance, Valentino is separating its men’s and women’s ready-to-wear shows and choosing dedicated locations for each collection. While menswear continues to complement women’s fashion, the brand’s focus is now on redefining masculine codes and giving greater importance to men’s fashion. Over the seasons, Valentino’s menswear has grown in prominence, evident in the launch of Maison Valentino Essentials. This collection features a selection of menswear essentials that challenge traditional rules and boundaries, pushing formal fashion into a more open and free direction.

Valentino’s decision to hold its menswear show in Milan once again highlights its commitment to innovation, creativity, and pushing the boundaries of menswear. With its deep connection to Milan and its dedication to inspiring and engaging with the next generation, the upcoming show is poised to make a significant impact on the fashion industry.
