Valentino Announces Departure of US CEO Sandra Jovicic

Valentino, the iconic Italian fashion powerhouse, has recently made waves with the announcement of the departure of its US CEO, Sandra Jovicic. The news, confirmed by a spokesperson for the label to Fashion Network on Monday, has left many in the industry speculating about the future direction of the company’s leadership. At the moment, no successor has been named to take over Jovicic’s pivotal role.

Having assumed the position of CEO at Valentino in July of 2017, Jovicic brought a wealth of experience and expertise to the esteemed brand. Prior to her tenure at Valentino, she held esteemed leadership roles at Moncler in New York, where she served as president from 2012 to 2017. Drawing from a diverse career background that includes consulting and executive positions at renowned fashion houses such as Tommy Hilfiger and Bottega Veneta, Jovicic’s unique perspective undoubtedly contributed to Valentino’s success during her time at the helm.

In 2017, Valentino made headlines with the announcement of plans to sell over 25 percent of the company. Currently owned by Qatari investment vehicle Mayhoola, the luxury brand was acquired from private equity firm Permira in 2012. Under the guidance of CEO Stefano Sassi, a longtime figure at Valentino since 2006, the brand has continued to flourish amidst the ever-evolving fashion landscape.

Jovicic’s departure comes during a period of change for Valentino, following the departure of creative director Maria Grazia Chiuri in 2016. Chiuri’s exit after a remarkable 17 years of service paved the way for Pierpaolo Piccioli to assume the creative director role, underscoring Valentino’s unwavering commitment to innovation and ingenuity in the fashion realm.

Even as the search for a new CEO commences, Valentino remains a dominant force in the fashion industry, renowned for its exquisite craftsmanship and classic designs. With a storied legacy and a steadfast dedication to pushing boundaries, Valentino is poised to captivate audiences worldwide for generations to come.
