Unveiling the Rich Heritage of Dior: Exploring the Galerie du 30 Montaigne

The Galerie du 30 Montaigne, located in Paris, is currently unveiling new scenographies that explore previously unknown aspects of Dior’s rich heritage. With the approach of the high tourist season, Dior is determined to offer something fresh and exciting for both French and international visitors. Last year, the Galerie opened its doors, introducing a series of exclusive installations that enhance its distinctive “fil rouge” spaces.

One of the highlights of the Galerie is a dedicated installation that delves into the launch of the Miss Dior ready-to-wear line in 1967. Led by designer Marc Bohan, who had taken on the role of artistic director six years prior, this line heralded a new era for Maison Dior – one that embraced more accessible fashion inspired by the vibrant spirit of the swinging sixties. Visitors will be able to immerse themselves in this pivotal chapter of Dior’s history through a captivating display of silhouettes and documents sourced from Dior’s extensive archives.

In a groundbreaking move, the Galerie also presents, for the first time ever, a carefully curated selection of looks created by Kim Jones, the artistic director of Dior Homme since March 2018. This section highlights Jones’ collaborations with contemporary artists, such as painters and visual artists Raymond Pettibon (Winter 2019/2020 collection) and Peter Doig (Winter 2021/2022 collection). These innovative collaborations bring a fresh perspective to Dior’s artistic vision, further solidifying the brand’s position at the forefront of the fashion industry.

Alongside these exciting additions, the Galerie also showcases several scenographies that exemplify founder Christian Dior’s fascination with the Age of Enlightenment. This source of inspiration is vividly portrayed through a thoughtfully curated collection of clothing, objects, furniture, accessories, and photographs. By exploring this historical period, Dior pays homage to its roots while also demonstrating its ability to continuously reinvent and push boundaries.

The Galerie Dior, designed to provide an immersive and unforgettable experience, was inaugurated after the renovation of the flagship 30 Montaigne, the historic Maison Dior. With the Galerie, Dior seeks to celebrate the brand’s remarkable heritage and the enduring DNA instilled by its founder and subsequent artistic directors.

Spanning an impressive 2,000 square meters, the Galerie boasts themed rooms that incorporate mesmerizing light displays, projections, archival documents, and iconic silhouettes from Dior’s history. In addition to the fashion spaces, the Galerie also offers immersive areas dedicated to the brand’s beauty and fragrance creations. Visitors have the unique opportunity to explore Monsieur Dior’s historic office, browse the exclusive boutique, and even indulge in a delightful experience at Café Dior, exclusively reserved for guests.

To visit the Galerie Dior, one must enter through the entrance located at 11 rue François Ier, Paris 8. Keep in mind that reservations are required to ensure a seamless and personalized visit.
