Uniqlo and Theory have announced plans to open a new flagship store in Covent Garden next month, building on the success of their joint space on Regent Street. Spanning three floors, the store will showcase both Uniqlo LifeWear and the Theory collection, along with a range of experience-led features designed to enhance the shopping experience.
One of the standout features of the new store is the RE.UNIQLO Studio, where customers can recycle, repair, or even remake their Uniqlo items. This innovative initiative aligns with the growing trend towards sustainable fashion and provides shoppers with a unique opportunity to extend the lifespan of their fashion pieces.
Another exciting addition to the flagship store is the UTme! section, which allows customers to unleash their creativity by designing their own custom garments. In partnership with TFL, Uniqlo is also launching a special collection to celebrate the 160th birthday of London’s iconic transportation system.
In a move that further elevates the shopping experience, the Grade II listed Carriage Hall will house Uniqlo UK’s first in-store café. Teaming up with London-based Japanese tearoom Katsute 100, the café will offer “Japanese-inspired refreshments” for customers to enjoy. With the inclusion of an outside terrace, visitors can bask in the vibrant Covent Garden atmosphere while indulging in delicious treats.
The Carriage Hall has undergone various transformations over the years. Originally a coach house dating back to the 18th century, it has previously hosted a range of retail businesses. The most recent occupants were The Shop at Bluebird and Jigsaw, prior to Jigsaw’s store closures.
The opening of this flagship store coincides with a period of exciting retail developments in Covent Garden. Hackett is set to host an “Extraordinary Suits for Extraordinary Men” event on 20-21 April, while Rituals will have a pop-up store on Henrietta Street from 19-23 April.
