In response to the period of confinement, the French Institute of Fashion (IFM) is gearing up to launch a series of online courses aimed at students and fashion enthusiasts alike. This unprecedented Fashion MOOC, set to start on Monday, March 30, is titled ‘Understanding Fashion, from Business to Culture’. Its objective is to provide valuable insights into the fashion industry by exploring it through the lenses of cultural phenomenon and creative industry.
The program, spanning over four weeks, consists of three hours of weekly classes that cover four complementary themes. These themes are “Fashion and Modernity,” “Fashion and Society,” “Fashion as Language,” and “Fashion and Consumption.” The final theme will delve into the evolution of the concept of gender and the emergence of lifestyle.
To ensure the quality and depth of the courses, Professor Benjamin Simmenauer has invited prominent professionals from the fashion industry to share their insights. Some of the distinguished guests include Simon Porte Jacquemus, who finds himself in the midst of creative confinement, Sir Paul Smith, and Christelle Kocher.
