UK Consumers Gear Up for Black Friday Shopping

As Black Friday approaches, consumers in the UK are getting ready to score the best deals, with many even planning to take time off work to make sure they don’t miss out. A recent survey by digital commerce platform Koomoo found that nearly half of those planning to shop on Black Friday intend to take some time off their work commitments. Among the top categories expected to draw in shoppers are tech products, leading the pack, followed closely by fashion and cosmetics.

Interestingly, the majority of Black Friday shopping this year is anticipated to happen online, with only a small percentage of people planning to visit physical stores. Shopping via laptop, desktop, and mobile phone will be the preferred method for many consumers. Even those who are working during Black Friday are likely to spend some company time browsing for deals, with some spending up to an hour hunting for discounts.

On average, UK Black Friday shoppers estimate they will spend around £252 before the big day, and in total, they plan to shell out £427 during the shopping extravaganza. Men are presumed to be bigger spenders compared to women, with millennials leading the pack in terms of expected spending.

When it comes to the most sought-after products, tech items are at the top of the list, with clothing, homewares, and cosmetics following suit. Surprisingly, only about half of shoppers actually make a shopping list prior to starting their online bargain hunt, with quite a few admitting to buying items on a whim rather than out of necessity.

With consumers eagerly gearing up for Black Friday, it’s evident that this year’s shopping season is going to be a bustling affair. As shoppers prepare to chase after discounts and deals, it’s clear that a wide range of product categories will be in demand. Whether shopping online or in brick-and-mortar stores, UK consumers are ready to make the most of Black Friday shopping this year.
