Trussardi Appoints Serhat Işık and Benjamin A. Huseby as Creative Directors

Trussardi, the renowned fashion house recognized for its exquisite leather designs, has made a surprising announcement regarding its creative leadership. Serhat Işık and Benjamin A. Huseby, the dynamic design duo behind the Berlin-based brand GmbH, have been appointed as the new creative directors of Trussardi. This bold decision marks CEO Sebastian Suhl’s first major move since taking on the role last year.

Işık and Huseby have gained widespread recognition for their own brand, GmbH, which they established in 2016 with a strong emphasis on social engagement and inclusivity. Despite their new positions at Trussardi, the duo intends to continue working on their own label. Their appointment is expected to infuse Trussardi with a fresh and contemporary creative vision, breathing new life into the century-old Milanese house.

Trussardi has highlighted that Işık and Huseby will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of design, image, and branding for the brand. Their inaugural collection for Trussardi will be revealed in the Fall Winter 2022 season. The fashion house expressed its excitement about the potential outcomes that stem from this appointment, as well as the duo’s commitment to reestablishing Trussardi’s brand.

Founded in 1911 as a glove manufacturer by Dante Trussardi in Bergamo, Italy, Trussardi boasts a rich heritage and is renowned for its use of high-quality materials, particularly leather. The brand experienced significant growth under the leadership of Nicola Trussardi, the founder’s grandson, who transformed it into a major lifestyle brand in the 1980s. However, following Nicola’s untimely death in 1999, Trussardi struggled to maintain its momentum and failed to establish a distinct design identity.

With Işık and Huseby now at the helm, Trussardi aims to revive its brand and tap into the immense potential it possesses. The duo’s exceptional and impactful creative vision, combined with the leadership of CEO Sebastian Suhl, is expected to guide the brand in a new and exciting direction. The 110-year-old brand is currently controlled by the QuattroR investment fund, which acquired a 60% stake in Trussardi in 2019.

Trussardi’s collaboration with Işık and Huseby may well signify the beginning of a renaissance for the esteemed fashion house. As the brand embarks on this new journey, it seeks to deliver a contemporary and responsible lifestyle experience to the market. The industry eagerly anticipates the debut collection from this creative duo, eagerly expecting the innovation and rejuvenation they will bring to Trussardi.
