Trends Unveiled at Who’s Next Show in Paris

The highly anticipated Who’s Next show in Paris recently took place, and it did not disappoint. With nearly 400 women’s ready-to-wear labels showcasing their Fall/Winter 2023-24 collections, the event was a fashion extravaganza. From apparel to accessories, lingerie, and jewelry brands, the show had it all. Among the numerous stands, FashionNetwork.com identified five standout trends that are set to dominate the upcoming season.

One of the most notable trends spotted at the show was the explosion of color. In defiance of the current Covid-19 period, many collections featured vibrant and bold colors. Designers and consumers alike are looking for that energy that vibrant hues bring to their outfits, according to Sylvie Sonsino, founder of Parisian label Bella Jones.

Orange was a particular standout color on the runway. Having had its breakthrough moment in Spring/Summer 2022, orange will continue to dominate in Fall/Winter 2023-24. Brands like Gertrude + Gaston, Frnch, and Bella Jones showcased their readiness to embrace this bold color. It will be interesting to see how it mixes with other shades like cream, taupe, camel, navy blue, and bright pink.

Colorful layering also took center stage at the show. Superimposing garments in multiple layers is a perennial trend, but for the upcoming season, it will become even more playful with a burst of colors. Designers will experiment with bold combinations of hues and different textures to create eye-catching looks. Italian label Niu showcased an outfit that mixed purple with yellow, floral patterns, and tweed-effect wool with smooth cotton, exemplifying this trend.

While vibrant colors stole the spotlight, there was also a place for more subdued earth tones. Colors reminiscent of nature, such as linen, khaki, sage green, and terracotta red, were prevalent among the collections. Modern-day gardener’s looks brought a neo-rural aesthetic to the scene, featuring sleeveless jackets, canvas trousers, and loose check dresses.

Get ready for a blast from the past as the 1990s streetwear trend makes a comeback for Fall/Winter 2023-24. Loose and cropped cuts, day-glo shades, and graphic symbols like lightnings, arrows, triangles, and lettering will dominate the scene. This trend embraces a playful and vibrant aesthetic that exudes a sense of nostalgia and good humor.

Lastly, fashion designers drew inspiration from the iconic psychedelic and geometric motifs of the 1970s. Blouses, dresses, trousers, and scarves showcased these prints in black and white or colorful variations. This fusion of retro influences and modern silhouettes provides a fresh take on classic prints.

Overall, the Who’s Next show unveiled a vibrant and diverse range of trends for the upcoming Fall/Winter 2023-24 season. Fashion enthusiasts can expect a dynamic fashion landscape filled with bold colors, psychedelic prints, and nostalgic references. These trends prove that fashion continues to captivate and inspire us, even in challenging times.
