Tommy Hilfiger Launches Tommy for Life Initiative Towards Circular Fashion

Tommy Hilfiger has taken a significant step towards achieving circular fashion through the launch of the Tommy for Life initiative. Following in the footsteps of other industry leaders like Gucci and Levi’s, Tommy Hilfiger is embracing the concept of sustainability by reviving pre-owned pieces from their iconic brand.

The program is set to begin in the Netherlands before expanding to other European markets next year. Participants can trade in their used Tommy Hilfiger and Tommy Jeans items, as well as damaged retail pieces, in exchange for discount vouchers. These pieces will then undergo a thorough process of cleaning, repairs, and restoration to ensure they are in top condition.

The refurbished items will be classified into three categories: ‘reloved,’ ‘refreshed,’ and ‘remixed.’ The collaboration with The Renewal Workshop ensures that pieces beyond repair will be recycled or repurposed, contributing to the brand’s circular business model. Tommy Hilfiger’s CEO, Martijn Hagman, underlines the importance of transitioning from a linear ‘take-make-waste’ approach to one that extends the lifespan of products.

To take part in Tommy for Life, individuals can visit Tommy Hilfiger stores or mail in their used items. The reimagined pieces will be exclusively available for purchase online at Tommyforlife.com. This initiative aligns with the brand’s overarching commitment to sustainability and social responsibility, as seen in the ‘Make it Possible’ program, ultimately working towards producing fully circular products by 2030.

Tommy Hilfiger’s efforts with Tommy for Life not only benefit their brand but also serve as a model for the fashion industry at large. By embracing circular fashion, Tommy Hilfiger is paving the way for a more sustainable future in fashion, inspiring others to follow suit.
