Tom Ford Cancels Highly Anticipated Presentation of New Collection

Renowned American designer Tom Ford has made the decision to cancel the highly anticipated presentation of his new collection. This choice comes in the wake of numerous luxury brands, such as Armani, also opting to cancel their presentations due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.

Initially scheduled for February 16th, the unveiling of Ford’s Fall-Winter 2022/2023 collection will unfortunately not be happening. The designer pointed to the impact of the global health crisis on both his design studio in Los Angeles and his production workshops in Italy as the primary reason for this disappointing cancellation.

In a statement provided to American Vogue, Tom Ford elaborated on the logistics that led to this decision. He explained that the current state of affairs simply did not allow for the timely production and completion of the entire collection. Expressing his regret, Ford highlighted his belief that a live presentation during New York Fashion Week would have been the most effective way to convey his vision for the upcoming season.

Interestingly, Tom Ford also holds the position of head of the CFDA (Council of Fashion Designers of America) since the summer of 2019. In addition to announcing the cancellation of the in-person presentation, he revealed that his eponymous brand intends to showcase the collection later in the year through a digital platform. As the New York Fashion Week commences on February 11th, fashion enthusiasts eager to catch a glimpse of Ford’s latest creations will have to exercise patience until the digital presentation is made available.
