Tod’s Group appoints Walter Chiapponi as Creative Director

Tod’s Group has made a significant announcement regarding the appointment of Walter Chiapponi as their new creative director. Selected by Tod’s CEO, Diego Della Valle, Chiapponi will take the helm of the design team for both the men’s and women’s collections, set to debut in Fall/Winter 2020-21 and hit stores next autumn.

Hailing from Milan, Walter Chiapponi brings with him a wealth of experience and a keen eye for Italian style. Della Valle commends Chiapponi’s ability to infuse Tod’s Italian essence with a modern aesthetic while upholding the brand’s renowned quality and craftsmanship. With a fashion career that began in the late 1990s after graduating from the Istituto Europeo di Design in Milan, Chiapponi has honed his skills at esteemed fashion houses such as Givenchy, Valentino, Gucci, Miu Miu, and Bottega Veneta.

In a statement released by Tod’s, Chiapponi expressed his appreciation for the opportunity to collaborate with the group, highlighting Tod’s esteemed reputation for Italian excellence and style on a global scale. Viewing his new role as both a challenge and a point of pride, Chiapponi is determined to continue advancing and enhancing the brand’s iconic Italian flair.

Following in the footsteps of past creatives like Alessandra Facchinetti and Andrea Incontri, who led the womenswear and menswear divisions respectively, Walter Chiapponi’s appointment as creative director signifies a promising new era for Tod’s. With a focus on innovation and evolution while remaining steadfast in its Italian heritage, Tod’s is set to embark on an exciting journey under Chiapponi’s leadership.
