THG, the renowned beauty e-tail giant and white label e-commerce services specialist, has recently unveiled its latest eco-focused supplier initiative called THG Partnership in Action, or ‘PACT’ for short. The primary objective of this initiative is to cultivate a culture of sustainability and carbon emission reduction through collaboration with suppliers. In September, THG’s science-based targets were officially approved by the SBTi (Science Based Targets initiative), encompassing compulsory reductions in Scope 1 and 2 emissions. By the year 2027, THG aspires to have 85% of its suppliers adopt science-based targets, while also striving for a significant 90% reduction in absolute Scope 3 emissions by 2040. Recognizing that achieving such goals necessitates collective effort and supplier involvement, THG acknowledges the crucial role of its partners in driving sustainability forward.
Under the PACT initiative, THG plans to share its comprehensive sustainability strategy with key stakeholders and suppliers. This not only allows for the sharing of progress but also opens doors for collaboration. The main objective is to enhance transparency throughout the supply chain while emphasizing the importance of sustainable practices in today’s business landscape. The initiative encompasses the establishment of ambitious sustainability goals for suppliers that align with THG’s commitment to minimizing environmental impact and promoting responsible business practices. To facilitate communication and streamline data requirements, THG will develop an online supplier portal. To address any challenges suppliers may face, THG will provide guidance, support, and resources to ensure they comprehend and meet sustainability objectives. THG Eco, an in-house sustainability service, will offer accessible and cost-effective technical assistance.
Mark Jones, the Chief Sustainability Officer at THG, emphasizes the significance of addressing all scopes of emissions to establish a comprehensive and impactful sustainability strategy. The establishment of specific targets allows THG to make meaningful contributions to global environmental conservation efforts. Through the PACT initiative, THG endeavors to lead the way in building a sustainable future in collaboration with its suppliers and stakeholders.
