The Row to Showcase Collection in Paris: Highlights of Paris Fashion Week

The fashion world was caught off guard when organizers of Paris Fashion Week made an unexpected announcement. The Row, a prominent New York runway brand, will be showcasing their next collection in Paris, causing a stir among industry insiders. This news came as part of the Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode’s revelation that six new participants will be joining the official schedule for the upcoming women’s ready-to-wear season in Paris.

Among the new additions are VTMNTS, the diffusion line of Vetements, founded by influential brothers Demna and Guram Gvasalia. These brothers, who were once refugees from Georgia, have made a significant impact on the fashion industry. Additionally, French brands Ester Manas and Germanier, Austrian brand Petar Petrov, and American label Vaquera will also be featuring on the official calendar.

While all of these newcomers bring excitement, it is The Row’s choice to showcase their collection in Paris that has garnered the most attention from the media. Established in 2006 by Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, former child TV actors, The Row has evolved into a beloved brand with a cult following. Their distinct enveloping silhouettes, minimalist style, and understated elegance have ignited a fashion movement. The brand’s name, paying homage to Savile Row in London, speaks to the Olsen twins’ admiration for tailored and classic fashion.

The decision to have VTMNTS showcased in Paris has sparked speculation of a potential rift between the Gvasalia brothers. Demna, fully dedicated to his role as creative director of Balenciaga, has left Guram as the sole designer of Vetements, the brand they co-founded in Paris in 2014. The absence of Guram’s mention on Demna’s Wikipedia page has further fueled rumors of strained relations between the two.

The official calendar for the upcoming fashion season presents a total of 95 fashion houses, with a combination of physical shows, physical presentations, and digital-only events. However, these event formats will be subject to changes dictated by the evolving health situation and measures imposed by public authorities, as cautioned by the Federation.

By including The Row in Paris Fashion Week, the event highlights the brand’s global appeal and significance. This addition adds to the anticipation and excitement surrounding the upcoming fashion season. Fashion enthusiasts and industry insiders eagerly await the presentation of The Row’s latest collection in the fashion capital of the world.
