The Rise of Cult Gaïa’s Ark Baskets

Now let’s rewrite, rephrase, and expand on the given text:

With warmer weather approaching, both city dwellers and beachgoers eagerly await the return of stylish baskets. Embracing the trend of “birkienne,” numerous luxury brands join in each year by introducing their own basket models. Some brands have even made baskets their specialty or iconic product, such as the young American brand Cult Gaïa.

One particular basket that has taken the fashion world and social media by storm since 2016 is the Ark model by Cult Gaïa. Its distinctive rigid half-moon design and open structure crafted from flat bamboo sticks make it instantly recognizable.

Cult Gaïa was founded in Los Angeles six years ago by the talented 29-year-old designer, Jasmin Larian Hekmat. As a graduate of the prestigious Fashion Institute of Technology, which counts renowned alumni like Calvin Klein and Michael Kors, Jasmin initially gained recognition by creating flower crowns, headbands, and turbans in a Coachella-inspired style.

Drawing inspiration from the elegance of the 1960s and the laid-back energy of Californian lifestyle, Jasmin Larian Hekmat aimed to create baskets that not only possessed a distinct identity but also stood the test of time. “Cult Gaïa creates beautiful, timeless pieces that will remain in women’s wardrobes for a long time,” explains Jasmin Larian Hekmat, the visionary founder of Cult Gaïa.

While the brand stays true to the concepts of slow fashion and encourages the culture of passing down items, it goes beyond traditional clothing items by considering its creations as design pieces and works of art. The baskets are meant to be displayed on shelves or coffee tables when not in use.

Crafted with care from sustainable materials such as bamboo or laser-cut acrylic, these baskets are handmade, reflecting Cult Gaïa’s commitment to sustainable production. In order to make luxury more accessible, the designer has kept the price range for these baskets around 140 to 400 euros.

In a recent development, Cult Gaïa has opened a pop-up store on Melrose Place and introduced its women’s ready-to-wear line. Additionally, the brand has partnered with the renowned luxury e-commerce platform, Net-A-Porter. The collaboration will offer an exclusive line of shoes, including iconic bamboo heels.
