The RealReal Enhances Consignment Experience with RealService

The RealReal, a leading online luxury resale platform, has recently announced significant improvements to its consignment service model to enhance the overall experience for its customers. The upgraded service, now known as ‘RealService,’ includes the introduction of a dedicated consignor concierge team, who will guide and support sellers throughout the entire consignment process.

While luxury managers have traditionally assisted sellers in determining the best strategies for selling their items, the new consignor concierge team will serve as the primary point of contact, addressing any questions or concerns that customers may have. This personalized service aims to provide sellers with a premium experience, ensuring their satisfaction and confidence in the consignment process.

In addition to the dedicated concierge team, The RealReal has also introduced new features to further enhance the consignment experience. The resale insights center offers consignors valuable information about how the platform prices each item, giving sellers insights into the market value of their products. Furthermore, the handbag pricing estimator allows customers to obtain an estimated value for their handbags before consigning them, enabling them to make informed decisions.

Recognizing the challenges that come with rapid growth, Rati Sahi Levesque, the president and chief operating officer of The RealReal, emphasizes the commitment of the company to delivering exceptional service. By leveraging the expertise of the concierge team and providing access to rich data, The RealReal intends to create a seamless and empowering consignment experience. These enhancements not only aim to cater to the needs of the company’s consignors but also empower customers to make more informed choices in both the primary and secondary luxury markets.

Earlier this year, The RealReal implemented a cost reduction plan that led to the termination of approximately 230 employees and the closure of several stores and consignment offices. Despite these changes, the company remains dedicated to elevating the luxury consignment experience for its vast membership base, which currently surpasses 31 million members. Looking ahead, The RealReal plans to expand its efforts in 2023, aiming to further enrich and refine the consignment experience for its discerning clientele.
