The RealReal Appoints John E. Koryl as CEO

Luxury resale platform, The RealReal, has appointed John E. Koryl as its new CEO and a member of its board of directors, effective February 6, 2023. Koryl’s main responsibilities will include streamlining operations, improving the customer experience, achieving cost savings, and leading the company to profitability. He joins The RealReal from Canadian Tire Corporation, where he previously served as president of digital. Prior to that, Koryl held senior positions at Neiman Marcus, where he played a significant role in modernizing the brand’s omnichannel experience.

Rob Krolik, The RealReal’s lead independent director, expressed excitement over Koryl’s appointment, emphasizing his extensive e-commerce and omnichannel executive experience, as well as his proven ability to develop and grow online businesses. The previous CEO, Julie Wainwright, stepped down last year, and co-interim CEOs Rati Sahi Levesque and Robert Julian were appointed. Levesque will now continue as president and COO, while Julian will remain CFO.
