The famous 11.12 bag by Chanel, now known as “The Chanel Iconic,” is the star of a new short film directed by Sofia Coppola and featuring prominent figures from the fashion house. This digital campaign aims to highlight the iconic status of the 11.12 bag, which was originally designed by Karl Lagerfeld in 1983 as a modern interpretation of the legendary 2.55 bag.
In the 28-second film, Sofia Coppola takes us on a journey through the lives of dedicated Chanel customers in Paris. The goal is to showcase the timelessness of the double C clasp it-bag, and to achieve this, actresses and models from different generations were invited to participate, including Carole Bouquet, Iman Perez, Louise de Chevigny, Anna Mouglalis, and Zoé Adjani. Adjani herself describes the bag as more than just a fashion accessory, stating that “With all the history it carries, it represents more than just a bag: it’s like carrying Paris on your shoulder.”
In addition to the short film, Chanel has also released another video on its website, directed by Sofia Coppola, which delves into the meticulous manufacturing process of the 11.12 bag in Chanel’s ateliers. This behind-the-scenes look gives viewers a closer understanding of the craftsmanship and attention to detail that goes into creating each bag.
