Teen Vogue’s Generation Next Class 2020 Presentation Week

Teen Vogue’s highly anticipated 2020 Generation Next Class Presentation Week has been announced, marking a significant moment for the fashion industry amidst the ongoing challenges presented by the Covid-19 pandemic. Led by Teen Vogue Editor-in-Chief Lindsay Peoples Wagner, this initiative was first introduced in 2019 to provide a platform for up-and-coming fashion designers to access mentorship and networking opportunities.

This year’s class consists of five exceptionally talented designers, representing a blend of creativity from both New York and London. Sheena Sood of Abacaxi, Edvin Thompson of Theophilio, Elliss Solomon of Elliss, Tolu Coker of Tolu Coker, and Krystal Paniagua of Krystal Paniagua have been selected to showcase their innovative designs and diverse perspectives within the fashion realm.

Due to current circumstances, the Generation Next Class of 2020 will be unveiling their collections through short films from October 12 to October 15. Additionally, each designer will curate a lookbook featuring their collections on New York City muses, infusing a unique element into the virtual event.

In previous years, the Generation Next designers would have hosted in-person presentations during New York Fashion Week. However, this time around, the transition has been made to a digital platform. Teen Vogue will be dedicating each day of the presentation week to showcase a different designer on their website, ensuring that these emerging talents receive the visibility and acknowledgment they deserve despite the pandemic-related obstacles.

This shift towards a virtual format speaks volumes about the fashion industry’s adaptability and resilience during challenging times. Initiatives like Generation Next are integral in supporting emerging creatives and fostering innovation, with Teen Vogue’s dedication to nurturing the future of fashion design being both admirable and vital for the industry’s growth.

The 2020 Generation Next Class presentations are set to be a captivating and inspiring display of talent, embodying the spirit of creativity and resilience within the fashion community. It is events like these that underscore the industry’s unwavering commitment to pushing boundaries and embracing change.
