Swatch Group Shaking Up Watch Industry with ‘Time to Move’ Event

Swatch Group is shaking up the watch industry with a groundbreaking event planned for March 19 to 26 next year. This event will precede the renowned Baselworld watch fair, from which the group recently withdrew. The move comes at a pivotal time when major watch trade shows in Switzerland, including SIHH in Geneva and Baselworld in Basel, are undergoing significant changes to stay competitive and relevant in the evolving market.

The decision to align the schedules of SIHH and Baselworld on consecutive weeks starting from 2020 has been praised by industry leaders like Patek Philippe. The goal is to create a more cohesive and efficient experience for exhibitors, customers, and media professionals attending both events.

Swatch Group has revealed a sneak peek of its upcoming event, themed “Time to Move”, with dates set for March 2019. The invitation features an artistic depiction of Zurich’s skyline alongside top brands like Breguet, Harry Winston, Blancpain, and Omega. The event location in Zurich remains a mystery, building anticipation and buzz within the watch retail community.

Looking towards the future, the collaboration between SIHH and Baselworld will continue with SIHH scheduled in Geneva from April 26-29, 2020, followed by Baselworld from April 30 to May 5. The synchronized efforts aim to propel the watch industry to new heights and enhance the overall experience for everyone involved. Keep an eye out for more updates on this exciting development in the Swiss watch industry.
