Swarovski Appoints David Wielemans as New CFO

Swarovski, the renowned Austrian crystal ware manufacturer, has recently announced the appointment of David Wielemans as its new Chief Financial Officer (CFO), set to begin his role in April 2023. As a member of the executive committee, Wielemans will report directly to CEO Alexis Nasard. He will be succeeding Frederik Westring, the current interim CFO, who will be departing from the company at the end of June. However, Westring will continue to oversee specific projects under Nasard’s guidance until that time.

Wielemans expressed his enthusiasm about joining the Swarovski team, stating, “I am thrilled to become a part of the Swarovski family. The combination of the brand’s iconic status, fashion and retail expertise, and profound manufacturing knowledge makes Swarovski truly unique. I am eager to contribute to the success of the LUXignite strategy and work alongside Alexis and all our esteemed Swarovski colleagues to solidify the group’s financial strength.”

Given his extensive financial expertise and distinguished career spanning the luxury and retail sectors, Wielemans is a seasoned senior executive. In his most recent roles, he served as co-CFO for EssilorLuxottica and as a group CFO for Essilor International. Wielemans holds a Master’s degree in finance and accounting from CNAM (Conservatoire National des Arts et Métiers) in Paris.

CEO Alexis Nasard expressed his satisfaction with the appointment, stating, “I am delighted to announce the appointment of this well-rounded and experienced leader. His breadth and depth of expertise perfectly align with Swarovski’s LUXignite strategy and will prove invaluable as we continue our journey towards sustainable and profitable growth.” Nasard also extended his gratitude to Frederik Westring for his significant contributions to the company over the past six years, emphasizing his instrumental role in shaping the new strategy and driving positive results.

The selection of David Wielemans as the CFO exemplifies Swarovski’s commitment to enhancing its financial capabilities and driving growth in accordance with its LUXignite strategy. With his substantial experience and expertise, Wielemans is expected to play a pivotal role in ensuring Swarovski’s continued success in the luxury industry.
