Swarovski and Central Saint Martins Showcase at Victoria & Albert Museum

The Swarovski and Central Saint Martins showcase at the Victoria & Albert Museum was an exquisite evening filled with glamour and creativity. Thirty-two students from CSM’s BA Jewelry and Design course displayed their exceptional jewelry designs, inspired by Swarovski’s iconic Aurora Borealis crystal and the V&A’s Christian Dior: Designer of Dreams exhibition.

The event was a blend of elegance and innovation, featuring a cocktail reception where guests could admire the intricate and dazzling jewelry concepts crafted by these talented students. Ten finalists were chosen to have their designs exhibited at the museum, with each piece reflecting a unique take on the project’s inspiration.

The winning design, ‘Scent’ by CSM student Piran Caseley, was a breathtaking neckpiece that artfully combined acrylic and Aurora Borealis crystals to embody the essence of perfume in a visually stunning manner. This creation was a testament to the students’ creativity, craftsmanship, and ability to push the boundaries of traditional jewelry design.

Giles Last, the course leader at Central Saint Martins, applauded the students for their outstanding work, emphasizing how this collaboration with Swarovski and Christian Dior provided them with invaluable experience and exposure. Swarovski’s long-standing partnership with Dior speaks to the brand’s dedication to innovation and excellence, evident in their use of Swarovski crystals to enhance their designs for decades.

The foundation’s support of Central Saint Martins’ students further underscores Swarovski’s commitment to fostering emerging talent and nurturing creativity within the fashion and jewelry industry. The event served as a platform to showcase the students’ talent, celebrate their achievements, and honor the enduring partnership between Swarovski, Christian Dior, and Central Saint Martins.

Overall, the Swarovski and Central Saint Martins showcase was a magnificent display of artistry, collaboration, and innovation, highlighting the boundless possibilities when creativity meets craftsmanship in the world of jewelry design.
