StockX’s Phenomenal Black Friday and Cyber Monday Performance

StockX, the online marketplace known for its resale offerings, experienced a phenomenal Black Friday this year. Compared to the previous week, trades on StockX soared by over 200%, showcasing the platform’s popularity and growth. Throughout the day, StockX witnessed a trading pace of more than one transaction per second, marking it as the second-largest day in the history of the marketplace for first-time buyers.

The momentum didn’t stop there, as Cyber Monday transactions on StockX surpassed the levels seen in 2022. Across various categories such as sneakers, apparel, accessories, collectibles, and electronics, StockX generated tens of millions of dollars in sales over the four-day event. This success can be attributed to the substantial influx of new customers during the shopping extravaganza.

Scott Cutler, the CEO of StockX, expressed his satisfaction with the strong performance of the marketplace during Cyber Weekend. He highlighted the participation of hundreds of thousands of unique buyers and sellers, indicating the continued strength of StockX and the resale space as a whole. Cutler also emphasized the importance of brand loyalty, stating that consumers prioritize value and price but remain dedicated to their favorite brands.

During the weekend, several popular brands experienced significant trading activity on StockX. Fear of God, Ugg, Asics, New Balance, and adidas (excluding Yeezy) were among the brands with notable trade days. Notably, the Adidas Campus sneaker made its debut on StockX’s top 100 products list, while the Jordan 11 Retro DMP Gratitude (2023) secured the top spot among Jordan Brand sneakers. Ugg products, particularly the Tazz and Tasman silhouettes, set a trading record on Black Friday. The most traded product overall was the adidas Yeezy Slide Slate Grey. In the apparel category, Fear of God’s Essentials line, specifically in black and oatmeal colorways, dominated.

In terms of category growth, StockX’s ‘Shoes’ category stood out as the fastest-growing during Cyber Weekend in 2023 compared to the previous year. The event attracted a staggering number of visitors, with over 10 million people visiting the StockX website and app. To make the experience even more exciting, StockX awarded nearly $2 million in prizes to its customers. Furthermore, StockX served traders from over 100 countries, with countries like France and Canada setting new trade records on Black Friday.

StockX’s exceptional performance during Cyber Weekend underscores its resilience and strong appeal to a wide range of customers worldwide. As the online platform continues to expand and attract new traders, it solidifies its position as a leader in the resale market.
