Stella McCartney Unveils Limited Edition White Frayme Mylo Bag

Stella McCartney has recently unveiled a new limited edition version of its popular Frayme Mylo handbag. This exclusive white variant of the bag is made from Bolt Thread’s groundbreaking mycelium-based material called Mylo, marking the first time Mylo is available in a color other than black. The debut of the all-white bag took place at the Stella McCartney AW23 runway show during Paris Fashion Week.

The Frayme Mylo bag was initially introduced as part of McCartney’s autumn 2021 collection and was once again showcased in the summer 2022 show, solidifying the ongoing partnership between Stella McCartney and Bolt Threads since the material’s debut back in 2017. The bag has quickly become a contemporary Stella icon, blending a bold vegan style with classic brand codes inspired by the iconic Falabella tote.

The Frayme Mylo bag features a stylish wraparound aluminum chain strap and is adorned with a zero-waste zamac medallion, further enhancing its appeal. It also boasts an environmentally-friendly lining made from a solvent-free material called Alter Suede, which is created using pre-consumer recycled materials. This lining adds to the bag’s sustainability and animal-free ethos.

Stella McCartney has long been a prominent advocate for sustainable fashion and the use of alternative materials to animal leather. With the introduction of the white Frayme Mylo bag, the brand takes another significant step toward creating a future of fashion that eliminates the unnecessary harm of animals for their skin. McCartney is excited about the potential of Mylo and fungi to revolutionize the industry and sees the Frayme Mylo bag as a representation of her vision for luxury accessories that align with ethical values.

The founder and CEO of Bolt Threads, Dan Widmaier, praised McCartney and her team for their unwavering commitment to sustainable materials and their role in inspiring a movement for materials innovation in the fashion industry. He expressed his excitement for future collaborations with McCartney, including the milestone of creating the exclusive white edition of the iconic Frayme Mylo bag.

The launch of the limited edition white Frayme Mylo bag further emphasizes Stella McCartney’s dedication to pushing the boundaries of sustainable fashion and showcasing innovative materials. By utilizing mycelium-based Mylo, which is derived from naturally abundant and renewable fungi, McCartney continues to redefine luxury accessories without compromising on ethics. The Frayme Mylo bag is not only a fashion statement but also a symbol of the industry’s shift towards a more responsible and conscientious future.
