Stella McCartney Partners with Selfridges for Stellabration

Stella McCartney has partnered with Selfridges for their seasonal extravaganza, Showtime!, by creating a special installation at the Corner Shop in the flagship London store. Dubbed ‘Stellabration’, this installation is a celebration of light, joy, and nostalgia with a festive twist. The aim is to honor shared sustainable values, while also showcasing fashion, art, and imaginative interpretations of British holiday themes. Open until December 28th, the Stellabration space combines a vintage aesthetic with cutting-edge innovations.

At the center of Stellabration lies The Lucky Light Show, which repurposes neons from previous Stella McCartney Christmas celebrations and store displays. This creative initiative gives new life to these neons, reducing waste during the holiday season. The installation also includes a conscious capsule collection, featuring star details and sustainable materials across ready-to-wear, kidswear, and vegan accessories. Visitors can also explore a range of exclusive festive-inspired collector’s items from the brand, as well as indulge in luxury vegan chocolates by Charbonnel et Walker. Furthermore, Stella McCartney has collaborated with Veuve Clicquot to offer a groundbreaking collection of bags and footwear that utilize grape by-products from the Champagne Maison’s harvest, as well as recycled cork. These unique pieces can only be pre-ordered from Selfridges and include a fashionable Champagne bottle holder. Limited-edition Veuve Clicquot personalized ice jackets displaying Stellabration messages will also be available.

Adding to the allure of the Stellabration installation are wearable art pieces by British artist Andrew Logan. These items, made from recycled and recyclable glass, are exclusively available for purchase during the event. Logan had previously collaborated with Stella McCartney for the summer 2024 runway show during Paris Fashion Week. Additionally, light artist Chris Levine contributes to the installation with an original artwork called ‘InterStella’, inspired by the neon and star elements of the overall display.

Sustainability is at the core of Stella McCartney’s ethos, and this value is manifested in the construction and decorations of the Stellabration space. The company utilizes recycled, recyclable, and biodegradable materials, shining a spotlight on the importance of minimizing waste during the holiday season. Selfridges also plays its part in sustainability by reusing items from previous years for its window displays and in-store decorations. For instance, props such as a giant moon and Santa’s gold car have been given a new lease on life after being repurposed from a previous Corner Shop takeover in July, where the car served as Barbie’s vehicle.

Stellabration offers a unique and immersive experience that embodies Stella McCartney’s vision of sustainable fashion, art, and festive joy. Visitors can expect to be transported through vintage aesthetics, modern innovations, and environmentally conscious design. The event also encourages contemplation about the impact of waste during the holiday season, while showcasing the creative possibilities of sustainable fashion and art. Don’t miss the chance to partake in the Stellabration until December 28th.
