Stefano Tonchi Joins L’Officiel as Chief Creative Officer

After a successful tenure at W Magazine, Stefano Tonchi is ready to embark on a new chapter in his career by joining L’Officiel as the chief creative officer starting on January 10th. His transition comes after his departure from W Magazine last June, following its acquisition by Future Media Group. At L’Officiel, Tonchi will be responsible for overseeing the magazine’s 31 international editions, a monumental task given the magazine’s storied history and upcoming 100th anniversary.

With a keen eye for design and a passion for innovation, Tonchi is eager to rejuvenate L’Officiel and position it as a leading multi-platform brand. His primary focus will be on unifying the various editions of the magazine, enhancing its digital footprint, and implementing strategies to drive growth in a challenging market.

L’Officiel, owned by Jalou, has been navigating financial difficulties, but with Tonchi at the helm, there is renewed optimism for the magazine’s future. The company has ambitious plans to expand globally, with new editions slated for Japan, the UK, Australia, and Nigeria. Additionally, investments from Gem Investments signal a strong commitment to revitalizing L’Officiel and solidifying its presence in the fashion industry.

Despite ongoing legal disputes with Condé Nast regarding his dismissal from W Magazine, Tonchi is focused on the exciting opportunities that lie ahead at L’Officiel. His wealth of experience and strategic acumen are expected to be instrumental in driving the magazine’s success and securing its position as a leading voice in global fashion.
