Sidney Toledano elected as President of French Haute Couture Union Chamber

Sidney Toledano, the CEO of LVMH Fashion Group, has been elected as the new president of the French Haute Couture Union Chamber, taking over from Ralph Toledano. Despite sharing the same surname, the two are not related. The election, which took place on November 21 at the headquarters of the French Haute Couture and Fashion Federation in Paris, also saw the re-election of the executive committee, consisting of representatives from renowned fashion houses such as Chanel, Christian Dior, Givenchy, Jean Paul Gaultier, Maison Margiela, and Schiaparelli.

Expressing his dedication to the core values of haute couture, Sidney Toledano highlighted the committee’s significant contribution to the growth and excellence of the industry. He emphasized their shared commitment to upholding the standards of haute couture and promoting its artistry.

At 71 years old, Toledano brings a wealth of experience to his new role as president. His career in the fashion industry began as a management consultant at Nielsen before he went on to hold executive positions at companies like Kickers and Lancel, where he served as CEO. In 1994, he joined Christian Dior and eventually became the CEO in 1998. Since 2018, Toledano has been leading LVMH’s fashion division, overseeing prestigious brands within the conglomerate.

Aside from his responsibilities as president of the French Haute Couture Union Chamber, Toledano was also appointed chairman of the board of the French Fashion Institute earlier this year. He is a director of the Colbert Committee and a member of the executive committee of the French Haute Couture and Fashion Federation.

Sidney Toledano’s extensive experience and strong commitment to the industry make him well-suited to lead the French Haute Couture Union Chamber. The chamber plays a crucial role in advocating for and representing the interests of the French fashion industry. Toledano’s election ensures that the organization will have a capable and knowledgeable leader, dedicated to promoting and preserving the art of haute couture.
