Shaun the Sheep Stars in Barbour’s Festive Campaign

Shaun the Sheep, the beloved character from Aardman animations, is starring in Barbour’s festive campaign this year. Following the successful collaboration with Paddington Bear for their Christmas ad, Barbour is now using animation to showcase their repair services.

In a season dominated by cute animated commercials, Barbour and Aardman have joined forces to deliver a heartwarming and sustainable message. The campaign takes place on Mossy Bottom Farm, where Barbour comes to life in a stop motion film directed by Steve Harding Hill.

The story follows Shaun, Bitzer, and the Flock as they decide to repair the Farmer’s worn-out Barbour wax jacket. Concerned that the damage would compromise its ability to keep him warm and dry, chaos ensues as their repair attempts go wrong. However, Christmas is saved when Bitzer works his magic, and the Farmer’s original jacket reappears, beautifully restored by the experts at the Barbour factory.

The message behind the campaign is clear – for some people, re-waxing and repairing jackets is best left to the professionals at Barbour. While sustainability may be a new focus for many brands, Barbour has been re-waxing and repairing its jackets for over 100 years. In fact, this service is now part of Barbour’s Wax for Life program.

Paul Wilkinson, Commercial Director of Barbour, explained, “This Christmas, we wanted to demonstrate the importance of extending the life of our garments, and we’ve achieved this through our partnership with Aardman. By working with Shaun the Sheep and his friends, we’ve created a lighthearted and engaging film that we hope will bring smiles this festive season.”

In addition to promoting sustainability, Barbour emphasizes the enduring quality of their jackets. Through their Wax for Life initiative, over 73,000 Barbour jackets are returned for re-waxing or repairs annually. A Barbour jacket becomes more than just an article of clothing – it becomes an old friend, a part of one’s life, and an experience filled with memories.

Barbour once again proves that animation is a successful formula for their festive campaigns. By partnering with Shaun the Sheep and telling a heartwarming story with a sustainability message, they aim to inspire customers to treasure and prolong the life of their Barbour jackets.
