Shang Xia Appoints Sophia Wu as CEO and Focuses on Growth and Innovation

Shang Xia, the renowned Chinese luxury label known for its elegant and understated designs, has recently announced the appointment of Sophia Wu as its new CEO. Wu brings a wealth of experience to the role, having previously served as the brand’s chief operating officer. She will be taking over from Jiang Qiong Er, the co-founder of Shang Xia with Hermès in 2010, who has been the CEO of the brand since its inception.

Although stepping down as CEO, Jiang will remain involved with the company as a board member. Additionally, she will be assuming a new advisory role at Exor, the Agnelli family holding company that acquired a majority stake in Shang Xia in December 2020. This acquisition was completed for approximately €80 million, solidifying the brand’s position within the luxury market.

The appointment of Wu as the new CEO highlights Shang Xia’s dedication to growth and innovation under new leadership. Her previous experience as the brand’s chief operating officer positions her well to lead the company into the future. With the support of Exor, Shang Xia is poised for further expansion and development in the luxury market.

Shang Xia’s unique blend of traditional Chinese craftsmanship and contemporary design has gained global recognition, and the new leadership team is expected to build on the brand’s success. The recent appointment of Yangi Li as the creative director in September of last year also marked a significant milestone for the Chinese label. Li showcased his debut collection for Shang Xia during Paris Fashion Week in October, further solidifying the brand’s reputation.

As part of Exor’s brand portfolio, which includes renowned names like Christian Louboutin, Ferrari, Juventus, and The Economist Group, Shang Xia has access to valuable resources and opportunities for collaboration. This strategic positioning will undoubtedly contribute to the brand’s future endeavors.

Shang Xia remains committed to creating timeless and sustainable luxury products as the fashion industry continues to evolve. The brand’s dedication to quality and craftsmanship resonates with discerning consumers who value heritage and tradition. With Wu at the helm and Li’s creative direction, Shang Xia is set to capture the luxury market with its distinctive aesthetic and commitment to excellence.

The global fashion community eagerly awaits the brand’s future collections and the innovative designs that will define Shang Xia’s legacy in the luxury fashion industry.
