Shaftesbury Partners with Good On You

Shaftesbury, a prominent commercial property landlord in Central London, has recently announced a new partnership with Good On You, a fashion sustainability ratings company. This collaboration, known as ‘Good On You x Shaftesbury’, is aimed at assisting Shaftesbury in selecting more sustainable brands and aiding its existing retail tenants in improving their sustainable practices. This innovative partnership makes Shaftesbury the first landlord to join forces with a sustainability ratings company.

The primary focus of this partnership is to provide retail businesses in the Carnaby, Soho, and Seven Dials areas with valuable information and practical tools to enhance their sustainability ratings. In doing so, these businesses can effectively showcase their sustainable practices to consumers, highlighting their commitment to responsible fashion choices.

Shaftesbury’s decision to partner with Good On You is driven by compelling data from Kantar, revealing sustainability as the top concern for fashion shoppers. Additionally, another study found that 63% of fashion shoppers expect brands to actively promote sustainability. These shifting consumer preferences are primarily influenced by the younger generations, such as Millennials and Gen-Z, with 90% of this demographic urging fashion businesses to be transparent about their environmental and ethical values.

Samantha Bain-Mollison, Shaftesbury’s Retail Director, expressed her enthusiasm about this partnership, stating that it aligns perfectly with the company’s mission to cultivate more sustainable communities. She is excited to collaborate with socially conscious brands and actively support and promote their sustainability efforts.

Sandra Capponi, co-founder of Good On You, commended Shaftesbury for its leadership role in driving change on crucial sustainability issues. As the first landlord to partner with Good On You, Shaftesbury is empowering the brands within its portfolio by equipping them with Good Measures, an innovative platform designed to improve their overall sustainability performance.

This collaboration between Shaftesbury and Good On You not only responds to the increasing consumer demand for sustainable fashion choices but also sets an example for other property landlords to follow suit. By actively contributing to sustainability efforts in the fashion industry, Shaftesbury aims to create an environment where both retailers and consumers can make informed and responsible choices.
