Serge Ruffieux Launches Independent Brand Focusing on Fashion Accessories

Serge Ruffieux, the former creative director of Carven, has taken a bold step by launching his first independent brand, which will focus exclusively on fashion accessories. This highly anticipated venture, aptly named 13 09 SR, comes at a time when Ruffieux believes that accessories have become an essential part of our daily lives.

Ruffieux’s reputation as an innovator in the world of accessories was solidified during his time at Carven, where he introduced fresh and imaginative designs, particularly in the realm of shoes. He firmly believes that accessories have the power to define one’s attitude and reflect their personality. With this in mind, Ruffieux plans to unveil his inaugural collection during Paris Fashion Week in October, featuring a captivating blend of hybrid shoes and sunglasses with a gem-like quality.

While creating a distinct and entertaining style is one of Ruffieux’s goals for his brand, sustainability is also a key focus. He aims to use recycled and ecological materials in order to produce visually appealing accessories that are environmentally friendly. To ensure the highest quality and craftsmanship, all of the products will be manufactured in Italy.

Ruffieux’s extensive experience in the luxury goods sector has equipped him with the knowledge and expertise necessary to thrive in the fashion industry. He studied at Geneva’s Haute Ecole d’Art et de Design (HEAD) before honing his skills at prestigious brands such as Moschino and Sonia Rykiel. He went on to join Dior’s design studio and became the head designer for their haute couture and women’s ready-to-wear collections. Ruffieux even took on the role of interim design director at Dior after the departure of Raf Simons, alongside Lucie Meier.

In 2017, Ruffieux assumed the role of creative director at Carven, but his tenure came to an end when the label was acquired by Chinese fashion group Icicle. Undeterred by this setback, Ruffieux is now eager to embark on a new adventure and bring his unique vision of accessories to life through his own brand.

Ruffieux’s partner in this endeavor is Émilie Faure, a fashion industry journalist with a management degree from the French Fashion Institute. Faure’s 20 years of experience in the industry are expected to bring an effective management approach and a fresh perspective to the brand.

With Ruffieux’s creative prowess and expertise, coupled with Faure’s management skills, 13 09 SR is poised to make a significant impact in the accessories market. Fashion enthusiasts and accessory lovers can eagerly anticipate discovering distinct and sustainable pieces that expertly reflect Ruffieux’s artistic vision.
