Selfridges Launches Kidswear Rental Collection

Luxury British department store, Selfridges, is entering the kidswear rental market with its debut kidswear rental collection. This move comes as more people are embracing fashion product rental, while the upfront cost of purchasing high-end labels and investing in designer kidswear becomes increasingly expensive due to children’s rapid growth.

Selfridges’ kidswear rental collection will consist of occasionwear, outerwear, streetwear, and changing bags, all personally selected by its buying team. The available sizes range from six months to 16 years, and customers have the option to rent items for four, eight, 10, or 20-day periods. Prices start at £20 for a four-day rental.

The collection includes prestigious brands such as Self-Portrait, Off-White, and Kenzo, ensuring that children can dress in fashionable and premium outfits for any occasion. Furthermore, Selfridges plans to expand its rental offerings to include children’s skiwear later this year. This decision follows the success of its adult ski rental service, which accounted for a significant portion of all Selfridges rentals in the AW21 season. Recognizing that children quickly outgrow expensive skiwear, Selfridges aims to provide a more sustainable and planet-friendly option through its rental service.

To support this new venture, Selfridges has partnered with rental specialist Hurr as part of its Reselfridges eco drive. This collaboration ensures that the rental service is efficient, dependable, and aligns with the retailer’s sustainability goals.

The introduction of kidswear rental by Selfridges reflects the growing demand for fashion rental services and acknowledges the unique challenges of dressing children in luxury designer clothing. By offering a meticulously curated selection, flexible rental periods, and access to highly sought-after brands, the retailer aims to meet the needs of fashion-forward parents while promoting a more sustainable approach to dressing their young ones. With the forthcoming addition of children’s skiwear rental, Selfridges continues to expand its rental offerings, making high-end fashion more accessible and environmentally friendly for all ages.
