Seiko UK’s First-Ever Two-Storey Boutique Opens on New Bond Street

Seiko UK is making a major move by opening its first-ever two-storey boutique on London’s prestigious New Bond Street this autumn. The location of the store holds special significance for the Japanese watchmaker, as it will allow for the presentation of both Seiko and luxury Grand Seiko collections, with dedicated showrooms for each. Furthermore, there will be a separate private lounge on the upper floor showcasing the company’s hand-made Credor timepieces.

The boutique, situated at 68 New Bond Street, will have a façade and main entrance facing the street. It will also feature large display windows overlooking a covered pedestrian passage that connects New Bond Street to the newly created Medici Court open-air meeting space. This passage will serve as a convenient pathway to Hanover Square and the Elizabeth Line’s Bond Street station.

To celebrate its 140-year heritage, the boutique will host a series of events, such as displaying significant historical pieces on loan from the Seiko Museum in Tokyo. Visitors will also be treated to a preview of the latest Grand Seiko ‘Kodo’ watch, which recently made its debut at the Watches & Wonders exhibition in Geneva. The Grand Seiko ‘Kodo’ impressively combines a tourbillon with a constant-force mechanism, resulting in exceptional accuracy.

David Edwards, the UK Managing Director of Seiko Watch Corporation, expressed his excitement about the opening, highlighting the immense momentum Seiko and Grand Seiko are experiencing worldwide. He emphasized the importance of creating luxurious and distinct spaces for both brands while being situated in an area of London synonymous with luxury goods.

Sarah Goldman, Senior Portfolio Manager of GPE and the landlord of the boutique’s location, also expressed her enthusiasm. She believes that the inclusion of Seiko and Grand Seiko collections will enhance the premium retail offerings within their Hanover development. With the new Elizabeth Line opening, the accessibility and demand for units in the northern section of New Bond Street have greatly increased, attracting prestigious brands such as Pronovias, WatchHouse, Canali, and Moyses Stevens.

In summary, the opening of Seiko’s two-storey boutique on New Bond Street is a significant milestone for the brand. It not only provides separate spaces to showcase their diverse watch collections but also positions them as part of a renowned luxury goods destination. This move reinforces the brand’s commitment to delivering exceptional timepieces to its discerning customers.
