Seamm: Digitizing Fashion for the Metaverse

Fashion tech start-up Seamm has recently secured $1.7 million in funding to further advance its platform and expand its go-to-market activities. The company, led by founder Marina Martianova, is on a mission to digitize fashion items for virtual worlds and provide a platform for brands to establish a presence in these virtual spaces. In addition to creating 3D replicas of physical items, Seamm plans to curate exclusive digital-only collections.

The timing of Seamm’s launch couldn’t be better, as the fashion industry has been embracing the concept of the Metaverse. Major brands such as Gucci, Balenciaga, Prada, and Selfridges have already embarked on their own virtual world projects and collaborations. Seamm aims to capitalize on this trend by allowing users to incorporate real-life fashion into virtual environments, providing them with new opportunities to personalize their game characters and avatars.

Alongside exploring digital collections from a wide range of fashion brands and renowned artists, consumers will also have the ability to purchase items from the in-app marketplace and export them to various virtual worlds and video games. Furthermore, users will even have the option to keep rare and exclusive items as personal collectibles.

Seamm has already formed partnerships with several notable brands, including Outsiders Division, Alexandra Moura, Clear To Rain, Rara, Cunnington & Sanderson, Martina Spetlova, Marie de la Roche, No.Na.Me, and Advait. These brands’ initial releases will take place on Decentraland, a prominent 3D virtual world platform that has already attracted major fashion brands like Tommy Hilfiger, Estée Lauder, and Dolce & Gabbana.

To kickstart its launch, Seamm has teamed up with artist Misha Libertee. Marina Martianova, the CEO of Seamm, expressed her enthusiasm for bringing unique fashion pieces into the digital world and supporting independent designers. The company has carefully selected brands from Portugal, the UK, Spain, and the Middle East, each bringing a distinct approach to fashion. For example, Marie de la Roche uplifts single mothers through a women-only factory, while Outsiders Division focuses on producing a limited number of units per garment. Alexandra Moura specializes in creating bespoke costumes for dance performances and presenting seasonal collections.

The funding secured by Seamm will provide the means to scale its operations, attract top talent, and expedite the development of its platform. With the increasing interest in the Metaverse and virtual fashion, Seamm is well-positioned to disrupt the industry and offer users innovative ways to engage with fashion in the digital realm.
