Schiaparelli Unveils Latest Collection at Italian Embassy in Paris

Schiaparelli, the renowned fashion brand, recently unveiled its latest collection during a lavish event at the Italian embassy in Paris. The Hotel de Boisgelin, where the event took place, was adorned with exquisite marble busts and rare oil paintings, creating a luxurious and elegant ambiance. A star-studded crowd comprising celebrities like Kylie Jenner, Jared Leto, Michelle Yeoh, Sabine Getty, and Rosalia graced the event, causing a wave of excitement among fans eagerly waiting outside.

The show kicked off with a series of stunning black ensembles, showcasing the impeccable tailoring skills of Daniel Roseberry, Schiaparelli’s creative director. One showstopper was a flawlessly cut hourglass jacket with commanding shoulders, paired with pants featuring a spiky collar that resembled a cape. Another eye-catching look featured a cropped spencer embellished with Georgian-style gold embroidery. Roseberry’s unique touch was evident from the very beginning.

The highlight of Roseberry’s collection was the inclusion of body part-inspired jewelry in every look. From copper eye-shaped earrings to ear-shaped buckles and metallic breast adornments, these accessories added a touch of surrealism and edginess to the designs. Even the buttons on the garments were transformed into individual pieces of jewelry. While some pieces leaned towards couture or red-carpet glamour, Roseberry effortlessly incorporated ready-to-wear elements like chalk-stripe pants suits, giving the collection a versatile appeal.

Roseberry drew inspiration from a description provided by Marisa Berenson about her grandmother Elsa Schiaparelli’s initial success. It was a workday sweater designed to resemble a child’s primitive drawing from prehistoric times. The deliberately imperfect trompe l’oeil and surreal humor of this piece resonated with the audience and became Elsa Schiaparelli’s first signature hit. Roseberry pays homage to this iconic moment in the brand’s history while infusing it with his own unique vision.

One of the standout accessories from the collection was the brand-new trapunto leather Schiap bag, featuring ribbed measuring tapes and a hammered gold brass padlock. This bag is undoubtedly set to become a must-have for fashion enthusiasts. Another innovative creation by Roseberry was the high-top sneakers with golden metallic toes, which are bound to gain a cult following.

Elsa Schiaparelli, who was born in Rome in 1890, spent the majority of her creative life in Paris. She embarked on her fashion career at the age of 37 and quickly became a trailblazer in the industry. Although some may interpret the embassy show as a symbolic return to her roots, Diego della Valle, a prominent figure in the fashion industry, diplomatically stated that Schiaparelli’s true home is at Place Vendôme, and the embassy show was a tribute to her as a guest.

Schiaparelli’s latest collection showcased the brand’s enduring legacy and its ability to seamlessly combine art, fashion, and innovation. With Daniel Roseberry at the helm, Schiaparelli continues to push boundaries and captivate audiences worldwide. The show served as a reminder of the brand’s timeless elegance and its capacity to reinvent itself while honoring its rich heritage.
