Scheduling Adjustments for London Fashion Week Due to Queen’s Funeral

Burberry and several other fashion brands have made adjustments to their show dates and times for London Fashion Week due to conflicts with the day of the Queen’s funeral. As one of the prominent names in the lineup, Burberry has decided to present its collection in London on September 26th at noon. However, the specific venue for their show is yet to be announced.

While Burberry has opted for a date outside of London Fashion Week, other labels are trying to stick as closely as possible to their original fashion week schedules. for instance, Richard Quinn’s show has been rescheduled to September 20th at 7pm. Moreover, the final day of the event, which was initially expected to be quiet, will now include rescheduled events from Eftychia, Emilia Wickstead, Sinead O’Dwyer, Pronounce, and Chet Lo.

Various designers have also made changes to their plans. Ancuța Sarca’s event, originally planned for Monday, has been moved to Sunday. Similarly, Christopher Kane’s show will now take place on Sunday. Furthermore, Chopova Lowena will showcase their collection on Friday, filling in the time slot left by Raf Simons. Additionally, Dilara Findikoglu, Helen Anthony, and Paul & Joe will present their collections on Friday. Roksanda, initially scheduled for Monday in one of the Royal Parks, is currently exploring alternative options for their event.

Another rescheduled show is the Zeynep Kartal show, titled “Noblesse Oblige,” which will now take place on September 27th. Interestingly, this show will feature Amelia Windsor, a member of the royal family. On the other hand, there is no alternative date announced yet for Patrick McDowell’s Jimmy Choo Academy show on Monday, although press previews will still occur this week.

The British Fashion Council has recommended that all events originally scheduled for September 19th should be moved, and parties and celebrations throughout fashion week should be canceled. Nevertheless, they are encouraging visitors to attend London Fashion Week to support the designers during what was meant to be the first normal season after the pandemic.

Overall, the fashion industry is adapting to the scheduling changes arising from the Queen’s funeral, ensuring that designers still have the chance to showcase their collections and receive support from attendees of London Fashion Week.
