Savoir-Faire: The Mastery of Craft in Fashion

Adrian Cheng, founder of K11 Craft & Guild Foundation and a prominent cultural entrepreneur, has collaborated with renowned fashion figure Carine Roitfeld to introduce an exciting new fashion exhibition. The exhibition, titled ‘Savoir-Faire: The Mastery of Craft in Fashion’, will be held at the K11 Art and Cultural Centre in Hong Kong starting from December 13.

The primary aim of this exhibition is to delve into the world of craftsmanship in fashion and underline the importance of preserving treasured atelier traditions. ‘Savoir-Faire’ will showcase a diverse collection of both haute couture and prêt-à-porter pieces, demonstrating the evolution of couture throughout history. This comprehensive display will feature works from prestigious design houses like Balenciaga, Chanel, Christian Dior, Givenchy, Iris van Herpen, Loewe, Louis Vuitton, Tom Ford, and Valentino. It will also highlight the avant-garde designs of Richard Quinn and Tom Van der Borght. Additionally, the exhibition will include unique and exclusive pieces from Carine Roitfeld’s personal collection.

Adrian Cheng believes that craftsmanship has played a pivotal role in fostering collaboration and cultural exchanges within the fashion industry. He is thrilled to partner with Carine in showcasing the incredible power of craft and artisanship, as well as celebrating the future of innovation. Cheng believes that this unprecedented exhibition will offer a fresh and unique cultural experience to visitors in Hong Kong.

Carine Roitfeld, on the other hand, emphasizes the historical significance of fashion magazines as a platform to showcase extraordinary creations and ideas. By adopting an editorial approach to storytelling and visual presentation, ‘Savoir-Faire’ aims to highlight exceptional examples of craftsmanship. The exhibition hopes to inspire a deep appreciation for the history and essence of fashion among the younger generation.

To mark the launch of the exhibition, Carine Roitfeld will host an intimate reception at the historic Hôtel de Crillon in Paris on December 10. This event will bring together close friends and designers who support the exhibition. Simultaneously, Adrian Cheng will host a special opening event called ‘K11 NIGHT’ on the iconic Victoria Dockside promenade in Hong Kong.

This couture exhibition is part of the ongoing partnership between Adrian Cheng and Carine Roitfeld. Last year, they collaborated on the K11 Original Masters, a three-part webinar series that showcased century-old artistry through digital programs. The ‘Savoir-Faire’ exhibition is the next phase in their collaboration and promises to be a unique and immersive experience for visitors.
